Let there be Light

Setting free my soul in the light of eternity

(The poem is a sudden outburst of momentary realisation. It is neither religious, nor philosophical.)

“Lock up your liberties if You like ; but there is no gate , no lock, no bolt that you can set upon the freedom of your mind” .

                          – Virginia Woolf .

I’ve taken an oath today to set my mind free,

From all ties of the world , in reality solely ,

I live in a self designed-captivity of ignorance.

The earth itself makes a gift of all

that I’m in need of , without asking for return .

There’s the light , light and light rains down

From heaven limitless ; yet in dark I remain .

Pride and prejudice and an evil thought of ‘Self

Rites and rituals, I’ve pursued in vain .

Light of love I had, in me, boundless ,

But a sense of mortal pleasure darkened

My conscience. Now, let there be light ;

May it be the End ; yet , that’ll burn out

What, in me – transitory, ephemeral .

Only when infinite Light weds the finite thought,

My soul surely be free from sensual propensity –

And live eternally in the light of the Divinity .
