Call of Innocence

Call of Innocence

The blooming of lotuses early at dawn,
The melodious morning songs of birds,
The solacing tune of the Sanai in the Vairabi,
The golden tips of the rising sun at the farthest hilltops.
The crimson shyness that adorns veils
Of newly-married belles in their dreams.
And the mother's call, "Get up my child,
See Gopal, your friend, is set for school."

Memories of these all written in golden letters
Still illuminated, flash before my eyes and
Like morning dew tears soak my soul.
And I roam about in quest of those by-gone days.
And suddenly I heard a gaggle of lads and lasses,
Cooing, laughing and dancing in a perk.
Their joyous crackle filled my heart with hope and bliss.
Within their rapture I regained my long-lost world of innocence.
