A Journey to Nowhere

A Journey to Nowhere

From darkness to light, form light to sombre  dark ;
I'm on the way to nowhere -- what a journey of life !
A river, be it a brook or the Nile murmurs all the course
Of her hilly abode, of her beloved whom she's running to,
Braving the rocks and sands and caverns --
All the wilderness, and coalesces with him for ever.
Mine has nothing to call of my own.
I roam about many a station and platforms
Holding out my hands, calling 'her' Mamma,
Or 'him' Babu -- not only to beg but to seek,
Seek in her, seek in him my source in vain.
Days pass by, months and years. Remain I
The same, a shameless beggar.
Night falls and I meet my bosom friend ---
The lame dog, lame and lean and haggard,
That too knows not what pedigree my dear owns.
(And you may call us the real bastard).
Both we lie, I moan and my partner goans.
Here our lives begin, here they'll find the end.
